The Kern County Fair is an enterprise providing a year-round, safe and friendly environment for educational, cultural and entertainment experiences that celebrate the accomplishments of our entire community. We are fiscally responsible as we maintain and expand our facilities and produce events to fulfill the needs of our patrons, business partners, sponsors and exhibitors. This we do with pride and integrity.
KC the Bull is the official mascot of the Great Kern County Fair. KC's first appeared as the mascot of the Kern County Fair in 1987.
At fair time KC can be found all over the grounds meeting visitors. KC also makes appearances in parades and functions year-round ... watch for him in the Whiskey Flat Days Parade in Kernville , Cinco de Mayo Parade in Delano, Tehachapi Mountain Festival and the Wasco Festival of Roses.
The official birth of the Kern County Agricultural Fair was on August 5, 1916. It was located on 106 acres at Chester Avenue, two blocks north of 34th Street and just south of the Kern River Bridge. There were no buildings at that time so they used tents. The Kern County Museum and Clock Tower now stand in that location.
