2017 ACOI Annual Convention And Scientific Sessions - American College Of Osteopathic Internists

Overview

Event Overview:

The American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI), represents more than 3,500 active physician members plus residents and students = 7,000 members.

The ACOI is the second-largest specialty society in the osteopathic medical profession.  The membership is evenly divided among primary care general internists and medical subspecialists in cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonary/critical care, oncology, nephrology and others.  Many of these physicians are in a position of significant influence for referring and prescribing decisions.

Over 1,350 physicians attend the once-per year Annual Convention and Scientific Sessions.  All attendees are internal medicine trained, and vast majority have cardio, pulmonary or critical care training.

Exhibitor/Sponsor Information:

Why Exhibit?

The ACOI is the second-largest specialty society in the osteopathic medical profession.  The membership is evenly divided among primary care general internists and medical subspecialists in cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonary/critical care, oncology, nephrology and others.  Many of these physicians are in a position of significant influence for referring and prescribing decisions.

Over 1,350 physicians attend the once-per year Annual Convention and Scientific Sessions.  All attendees are internal medicine trained, and vast majority have cardio, pulmonary or critical care training.

ACOI attendees notoriously spend a great deal of time seeking out exhibitors during the annual convention to learn information and thank them for their support of the organization. Higher exhibit levels provide added benefits and exposure. (See the exhibit agreement for details.) Exhibitors and sponsors are also recognized in the ACOI media and on the web for a year, and are recognized in the membership mailings effectively reaching our total 7,000 members and visitors to the website who can see your organization or product descriptions online.

About ACOI:

The ACOI seeks to be the organization that osteopathic internists think of first for education, information, representation and service to the profession.

Keynote Speakers

Zubin Damania, MD

Internist, writer and performer of comedic rap parodies, Zubin Damania, MD, also known as ZDoggMD, will open the convention on Thursday morning, Oct. 12. Dr. Damania is an internist and the founder of Turntable Health, an innovative direct primary care clinic in Las Vegas. During a decade-long hospitalist career at Stanford University, he maintained a shadow career writing and performing comedic raps as ZDoggMD. His music videos, parodies, and comedy sketches about medical issues, as well as systemic issues with healthcare, have gone viral, with more than as quarter billion downloads on Facebook and YouTube.

Vance Johnson

Vance Johnson, a former wide receiver for the Denver Broncos who appeared in three Super Bowls. Following his 10-year pro football career, Mr. Johnson began to struggle with alcoholism, which ultimately led to a 26-day alcoholinduced coma that almost took his life. He attributes his successful treatment and recovery to an osteopathic internist and member of the ACOI (Mark A. Twardowski, DO, FACOI). Since completing treatment for addiction and domestic abuse, he has turned his focus to helping others in the same situation.

With several years of sobriety under his belt, Mr. Johnson now works at Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches, where he recently became a Certified Recovery Coach and a member of “The Pro Recovery Team.” In addition to helping others who struggle with addiction, he is an advocate for domestic abuse victims and openly speaks on the topic in hope of bringing a greater public awareness to this disturbing epidemic.

J. D. Polk, DO, MS, FACOEP

J.D. Polk, DO, MS, FACOEP, the Chief Health and Medical Officer of NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
