And don't forget the special events throughout, like the Awards of Excellence Ceremony or the Tailgate Party. Everything, from the vendors on the trade show floor to the entertainment at Tailgate is designed to connect you to the products and people in an environment geared to your personal and professional success.

Garden Expo

The Garden Expo re-introduction into Congress was exciting and resulted in a resurgence in the number of retail attendees. The response to the change was so positive that the show-within-a-show will be repeated at Congress 2018. The excitement and energy for retailers will increase with the introduction of a feature created and sponsored by Landscape Ontario's growers. Garden Centre focused education as well as recognition of the leading garden centres and growers will continue to be an integral part of the show and the horticultural value chain.

Harry Jongerden

Toronto Botanical Garden

Executive Director

Wednesday
9:30 am to 10:30 am

Whether private or public, our gardens and green spaces have never been more important to us as individuals, families or communities. Academic and scientific analysis demonstrates what we know in our hearts to be true – nature is good for us. By any measurement, be it physical or mental health-related, cultural, environmental or economic, gardens provide indispensable benefits to society. Harry will make a case for the indispensability of gardens – why they matter. A wider understanding of these benefits by individual and government decision-makers can only lead to greater prosperity for our industry. When gardens matter, so do we!

Harry Jongerden has been a professional gardener, garden designer and garden director for 40 years. He is currently Executive Director of Toronto Botanical Garden, having held the posts of Garden Director at VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, Head of Horticulture at Royal Botanical Gardens and Head Gardener at the Stratford Festival.
