Barbara Pierce Bush

A Candid Conversation with America's First Twins

Growing up in the spotlight, Barbara Pierce Bush and Jenna Bush Hager had a childhood like no other.  As the twin daughters and granddaughters of U.S. Presidents, they spent over a decade in the limelight.  In this special keynote address, Barbara and Jenna will share revealing, thoughtful, and deeply personal behind-the-scenes stories about their family, their loves and losses, and the sisterly bond that means everything to them.  They will discuss their current endeavors and their passion for making a difference in people’s lives, while entertaining with their special brand of infectious humor. By providing a unique, nuanced view of their own story, Jenna and Barbara hope to bridge divides and encourage people to lift one another up.

Barbara Pierce Bush
Barbara Bush is CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps (GHC), which mobilizes a global community of young leaders to build the movement for health equity. GHC was founded in 2009 by six twenty-somethings who were united by the belief that health is a human right and that their generation must build the world where this is realized. Since that time, GHC has placed more than 700 young leaders on the front lines of health equity in Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda, Zambia, and the United States, developing a cadre of creative, effective, and compassionate change makers.  Prior to GHC, Bush worked in educational programming at the Smithsonian Institution’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in South Africa, and UNICEF in Botswana. Bush is a member of UNICEF’s Next Generation Steering Committee and the UN Global Entrepreneurs Council.  She is a Draper Richards Foundation Social Entrepreneur, a World Economic Forum Young Global Shaper, and a Fellow of the Echoing Green Foundation. In 2013 Bush was recognized as one ofNewsweek’s Women of Impact, and in 2015 she was named to Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business list.  Bush graduated from Yale University with a degree in Humanities in 2004.

Jenna Hager
Jenna Hager is a contributing correspondent on NBC’s Today show and an editor-at-large for Southern Livingmagazine.  She is also the author of The New York Times best seller Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope, which she wrote after traveling to Latin America in 2006 as an intern with UNICEF. Ana’s Story is based on the life of a 17-year-old single mother with HIV, who struggles to shield her child from the life she had of abuse and neglect. Hager remains involved with UNICEF and is currently the chair of its Next Generation initiative, which is dedicated to reducing childhood deaths around the world. Hager holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin. She is also co-author of the children’s books Read All About It! and Our Great Big Backyard, and a new memoir, Sister’s First, that she co-authored with her twin sister Barbara.  In 2008, Jenna married Henry Hager. Jenna and Henry are the proud parents of their daughters, Margaret Laura “Mila” and Poppy Louise Hager.
