The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is the largest plastic surgery specialty organization in the world. Founded in 1931, the Society represents 94% of all board-certified plastic surgeons in the U.S., and more than 8,000 plastic surgeons worldwide, making ASPS a global institution and leading authority on cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.
About The PSF:
ASPS works in concert with The Plastic Surgery Foundation (The PSF). Founded in 1948, The PSF's mission is to improve the quality of patient care through research and development. The Foundation supports research through a variety of grants, clinical trials networks, training programs and forums that encourage innovation in medical devices and techniques.
The PSF fosters the clinical exposure of plastic surgeons by sponsoring Visiting Professors and the International Scholar Program. Donations to The PSF also support surgeons who volunteer abroad to help the impoverished and foster international outreach through Volunteers in Plastic Surgery.
The American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons (ASMS) is the oldest American organization representing maxillofacial surgeons who are devoted to improving and promoting the highest levels of patient care. Maxillofacial and Craniofacial surgeons specialize in bone and soft tissue reconstruction and enhancement of the face.
The American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons represents the finest in plastic surgery. Members are a collegial group of more than 500 surgeons who share a keen interest in surgery of the face and skull. While modest in size, its membership is fortunate to include many of the leaders in plastic surgery.
