Mario Schlosser

CEO and Co-Founder - Oscar

Mario Schlosser is the CEO and co-founder of Oscar, a health-insurance start-up that is using technology, design, and data to help humanize and simplify healthcare. Previously, he co-founded the largest social gaming company in Latin America, where he led the company's analytics and game design practices.
 
At Bridgewater Associates, Mario developed analytical trading models as a Senior Investment Associate. Prior to Bridgewater, he worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company in Europe, the U.S. and Brazil. As a visiting scholar at Stanford University, Mario wrote and co-authored 10 computer science publications, including one of the most-cited computer science papers published in the past decade, in which he developed an algorithm to securely compute trust in randomized networks.

He holds a degree in computer science with highest distinction from the University of Hannover in Germany and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Candi Castleberry Singleton

VP, Intersectionality, Culture, and Diversity

A visionary, change-agent, Candi Castleberry Singleton is the Vice President of Intersectionality, Culture, and Diversity (ICD) at Twitter, where she leads the new #GrowTogether strategy focused on ICD internally and on the platform. She is also the founder of the award-winning Dignity & Respect Campaign, which has helped organizations create environments of dignity and respect.

Business acumen developed from leading teams in operations and experience in sales and product marketing at Xerox Corporation shapes her approach to partnering with business and community leaders to build sustainable practices for the workplace and community. She has developed successful strategies and initiatives in technology, telecommunications, and healthcare including Sun Microsystems, Motorola, and UPMC.

As an experienced diversity and inclusion leader, she created The Bolt-On to Built-In Model™ featured in her chapter of Crossing the Divide: Intergroup Leadership in a World of Difference (Harvard Business School Press). The model has helped her transition companies from compliance-driven processes led by HR to integrated activities that shift the responsibility for achieving an inclusive culture to every employee.

Candi has served as adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University. She received an MBA from Pepperdine, a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley, and completed the Stanford Executive Human Resources program.

Scott Gottlieb, MD

Commissioner - U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Dr. Scott Gottlieb was sworn in as the 23rd Commissioner of Food and Drugs on May 10, 2017. Dr. Gottlieb is a physician, medical policy expert, and public health advocate who previously served as the FDA’s Deputy Commissioner for Medical and Scientific Affairs and before that, as a senior advisor to the FDA Commissioner.

He also worked on implementation of the Medicare drug benefit as a Senior Adviser to the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where he supported policy work on quality improvement and the agency’s coverage process, particularly as it related to new medical technologies.

In 2013 Dr. Gottlieb was appointed by the Senate to serve on the Federal Health Information Technology Policy Committee, which advises the Department of Health and Human Services on healthcare information technology.

Dr. Gottlieb was previously a Resident Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the New York University School of Medicine in Manhattan, where he also practiced medicine as a hospitalist physician.

He completed a residency in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, New York and is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and of Wesleyan University, in Middletown, Connecticut, where he studied Economics.
