Keynote Speakers

Ali Bahrami

Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety FAA

Long-time aviation executive Ali Bahrami became the FAA’s Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety on July 10, 2017. Previously, he was Vice President for Civil Aviation at Aerospace Industries Association, a Washington, D.C.-based trade association that represents the nation’s leading aerospace and defense manufacturers and suppliers.

As Associate Administrator, Bahrami leads the organization responsible for setting safety standards and overseeing all parts of the aviation industry – airlines, manufacturers, repair stations, pilots, mechanics, air traffic controllers, flight attendants, and any person or product that operates in aviation. These programs have a direct impact on every facet of domestic and international civil aviation safety.

Ben Minicucci

President & COO Alaska Airlines

As Alaska Airline's president and COO, as well as the CEO of Virgin America, Ben is responsible for all aspects of safety, performance and customer service for the daily operation of more than 500 flights throughout North America. Ben directs flight operations, maintenance and engineering, inflight and call center services, systems operations control, airport operations and labor relations.

Kurt Kinder

VP Maintenance and Engineering Alaska Airlines

Kurt Kinder is the Vice President of Maintenance & Engineering at Alaska Airlines and is responsible for setting the direction and long-term strategy for line maintenance, engineering, planning, material support and quality oversight.

Running a safe, compliant, and reliable maintenance operation is Kurt's primary focus. For the past several years, he has championed business intelligence efforts to improve analysis and utilization of real-time operational data to drive improvements. These efforts helped to solidify Alaska's position as No. 1 on-time major North American carrier seven years in a row by FlightStats, as well as the recipient of the FAA's AMT Diamond Award of Excellence for 16 years running.

Kurt joined Alaska Airlines in 1988 and quickly moved through the technician and management ranks. Prior to Vice President, Kurt served as Managing Director of Line Maintenance and 14 CFR 119.65 Director of Maintenance (DOM) for 10 years.

On top of being a self-proclaimed data junkie and robotic enthusiast, Kurt holds an MBA from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, an Airframe and Powerplant license, and the title of Alaska Airlines Legend (highest internal honor).
