Navigating the minefield of high school sports: The rewards & pitfalls of high school sports

In the uber competitive world of high school sports parents, coaches and staff will go to extremes to give their students a competitive edge. This creates an atmosphere which can lead to overzealous booster clubs, rule bending coaches and helicopter parents.

As teachers and administrators you are constantly being faced with the challenges of achieving the proposed mission statement of your school district while at the same time creating safe positive competitive environments for your students.

Learn how to accomplish this monumental task using Emotional Intelligence to navigate the minefield of high school sports.

As a certified Emotional Intelligence trainer/practitioner David G. Lewis has spoken at numerous educational conferences and teacher in-service trainings across the country, so he was stunned as he and his family became entwined in an emotional and controversial cross road involving his son’s high school football coaches and the district administration.

Learn how he utilized his training in Emotional Intelligence as he and his son, a blue chip quarter back and high prospect division 1 baseball player navigated the minefield of high school football.

Testimonials

I am the City Clerk of West Lafayette. My office is a staff of (3) and recently we began of a study of Emotional Intelligence using the book by Dr. David Walton. I received information from Purdue University about a speaker coming to campus that was presenting a workshop on Emotional Intelligence named David Lewis. Needless to say I signed up my entire staff and we attended this workshop. Mr. Lewis made the class entertaining and informative, and he nailed so many areas that at some point we all have struggled with.

I found this presentation to be excellent and we (my staff and I) will be discussing this during our next staff meeting. My only complaint was that it wasn't long enough. I implore you to bring him back....we would all attend!

Many thanks to you all for bringing this important topic to campus and for being smart enough to have Mr. Lewis present at Purdue University.
