WHO IS SWVS?
Southwest Veterinary Symposium is a partnership of the Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas VMAs, as well as the Oklahoma Veterinary Technician Association and the Veterinary Team Association of Texas.We provide continuing education for veterinary professionals in the Southwest region and the nation. Symposium profits are returned to the partner states.
The annual symposium is held each fall in the Southwest and includes continuing education, exhibits, interactive labs, and social activities. We serve DVMs, RVTs, hospital personnel, veterinary and technician students, and the suppliers who provide the products and services that support veterinary medicine.

Southwest Veterinary Symposium is a partnership of the Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas VMAs, as well as an allied partnership with Oklahoma Veterinary Technician Association and Veterinary Team Association of Texas to provide continuing education for veterinary professionals in the southwest region and the national symposium profits are returned to the partner states.
In 2002, the Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas Veterinary Medical Associations partnered to form a regional conference. The first official Southwest Veterinary Symposium (SWVS) was held in 2003. Prior to 2003, it was the Texas Veterinary Medical Association State meeting. By 2004, Arkansas and New Mexico Veterinary Medical Associations had joined the partnership. SWVS conferences have been held in Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio. SWVS continues to build on excellence by implementing new approaches to continuing education and focus on new networking opportunities to veterinary professionals. As the largest veterinary conference in the Southwest, SWVS concentrates on premium CE, featuring practical information presented by nationally and internationally recognized authorities.
