ACOI Mission, Vision & Values
The mission of the ACOI is to promote high quality, distinctive osteopathic care of the adult.
The ACOI seeks to be the organization that osteopathic internists think of first for education, information, representation and service to the profession.
To accomplish its vision and mission, the ACOI will base its decisions and actions on the following core values:
LEADERSHIP for the advancement of osteopathic medicine
EXCELLENCE in programs and services
INTEGRITY in decision-making and actions
PROFESSIONALISM in all interactions
SERVICE to meet member needs
5,000+ members, 1,500+ attendees, 30-40 exhibitors, multiple exhibit, sponsorship and symposium opportunities
The American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI), represents more than 4,500 active physician members plus residents and students = 7,000 members.
The ACOI is the second-largest specialty society in the osteopathic medical profession.
The membership is evenly divided among primary care general internists and medical subspecialists in cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonary/critical care, oncology, nephrology and others. Many of these physicians are in a position of significant influence for referring and prescribing decisions.
Over 1,500+ physicians attend the once-per year Annual Convention and Scientific Sessions, with about 75% specializing in primary care or general internists. All attendees are internal medicine trained, and vast majority have cardio, pulmonary or critical care training.
