My Background

Michelle Tillis Lederman, named one of Forbes Top 25 Networking Experts, is the author of The 11 Laws of Likability, Heroes Get Hired, and Nail The Interview - Land The Job. Michelle is the founder and CEO of Executive Essentials, which provides customized communications and leadership coaching and training programs. Michelle believes real relationships lead to real results and specializes in teaching people how to communicate with confidence, clarity, and connection.

Her clients include JPMorgan, J&J, Deutsche Bank, Target, MetLife, Sony, Ernst & Young, and Madison Square Garden. Passionate about education, Michelle served as an Adjunct Professor at NYU, on the faculty of the American Management Association, Lehigh Executive Education, and Rutgers Executive Education and the advisory board of Kean’s Global Business School.

I was the chairperson for a women's networking event at Baruch College called "Pearls Of Wisdom" about 6 years ago. I had extended an invite to Michelle to be a panelist. During the panel discussion, Michelle spoke about authenticity and truly connecting with people so that they will remember you. Funnily enough, after 6 years I still remembered Michelle's authenticity when she shared her "pearls of wisdom" with the young college women that night. I remembered her warmth and sense of humor, and how relatable she was with the audience. 
Last year, I was helping a team to plan an external women's networking event. We needed a dynamic woman to be the keynote speaker, and I instinctively thought of Michelle. I followed Michelle's career through our connection on LinkedIn and saw the wonderful and successful things she had accomplished. I knew she would be the right fit for the event, and just the person the team was looking for. I contacted Michelle, and she replied right away and was so happy to connect after all these years. I told her the theme of the event, and she was excited to be a part of the event. As with most events you typically have setbacks and scheduling issues. Despite these issues, Michelle was flexible with her time and such an ease to work with throughout the process. She was very understanding and worked well with the team to come up with a presentation for our audience that fulfilled the theme requirement. 
On the day of the event, Michelle arrived early to make sure everything was setup accordingly for her presentation, which helped the event run smoothly. After the setup, she spent time greeting our audience as they were seated waiting for the event to commence. 

Michelle's presentation was very informative and engaging. She connected with the audience by encouraging their participation and giving little gifts as rewards. The feedback I received from the audience members were very positive. Everyone used the word "authentic" to describe Michelle, and that's exactly what I hoped for. They loved her sense of humor and the warmth she shared with everyone in the room. It was amazing to see everyone engaged in her presentation and not staring at their phones. She has a gift of grasping the audience's attention and truly connecting with them. I'm sure people present that evening will continue to remember her throughout the years for the same reasons I have. 
It was truly a pleasure working with Michelle, and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a truly inspiring speaker. I hope you get the opportunity to work with her and experience her talent and her authenticity!

Michelle Lederman spoke in March at the New York Junior League's annual Leadership Day event, which celebrates rising leaders within the organization and provides an opportunity for them to take part in a day of training which will support them in their volunteer and professional development.
