Hilton Announces Signing Of First Hilton Hotels & Resorts Property In Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY AND MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announces the signing of Hilton Guatemala City as its latest development and conversion project. Owned by Profesionales en Turismo, S.A., the existing property will undergo a renovation and is expected to open in Q4 2018 as the flagship brand's debut in the country.

"The opening of our first Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in Guatemala speaks to our commitment to further expand our brands in Latin America," said Mario Carbone, director of development, Central America and Yucatan, Hilton. "Through the addition of this property to our growing portfolio, our team will bring quality service and comfortable accommodations to travelers visiting Guatemala's leading cultural and historical hub."

A hacienda-style property, Hilton Guatemala City will boast 130 spacious guest rooms and suites with views of the city and the hotel's beautifully landscaped gardens. The hotel will feature elegant colonial architecture with lavish décor, an outdoor pool, fitness center, and a signature restaurant, lobby bar and coffee shop.

For weddings, meetings and other gatherings, Hilton Guatemala City will offer approximately 3,000 square feet of event space with seven meeting rooms, including a ballroom. Services will include on-site catering, state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, the latest video conferencing technology and a talented staff to assist in coordinating events.

Located at Kilometro 9.5 CA-1 in Complejo Vista Real, in the capital of Guatemala, the hotel will be situated alongside the Carretera a El Salvador, a major artery connecting the hotel to the main commercial and office districts of the city.  Guests can visit Antigua Guatemala, a picturesque colonial town with rich history, or take a short hike up Cerro de la Cruz, which offers breathtaking views overlooking the Volcán de Agua.

Hilton Announces Partnership With CFPA To Develop China’s Future Leaders

SHANGHAI, China and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has become the first hospitality company to partner with the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA), in a bid to provide leadership training and fund projects that bring about positive societal change.  

The partnership, officially launched at an event in Shanghai, focuses on the Charity Future - Hilton program, an incubator project to support student-led charity societies. Over the next two years, the partnership aims to provide youth leaders from 200 student-led charity societies across 100 universities with access to leadership and training opportunities. Students can also apply for seed funding to implement local social impact projects.

"Our youth will be the next generation of change-makers in business and society, it is critical that we recognize the challenges they face and provide them with better opportunities," said Qian Jin, president Greater China and Mongolia, Hilton. "We are pleased to partner with the CFPA, to share our expertise and leverage our growing portfolio in China, to support young people and local communities across the country."

Charity Future - Hilton draws heavily on the vast network and extensive experience of the CFPA, one of China's most influential NGOs. The CFPA's efforts to alleviate poverty have impacted more than 29 million people in need across China.

Mr. Yadong Ding, Secretary General of the CFPA, said, "Charity Future - Hilton represents an important model for our organization to collaborate with industry leading businesses. Through this partnership we can make practical, lasting changes to the lives of a whole generation of students as well as the communities where they live."

This year, Hilton and CFPA have awarded 60 charity societies with seed grants worth RMB 10,000 or RMB 5,000. Student leaders from these charity societies gathered at East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), where they presented progress on their self-organized charitable projects, received valuable feedback from experts, and underwent leadership training.

The awarded projects focus on a range of societal issues, including poverty alleviation, environmental protection, services to disadvantaged community members and advocacy for community causes. Charity Future - Hilton is an integral piece of the company's Travel with Purpose commitment to create meaningful opportunities for people, strengthen communities and preserve the environment. The program is expected to impact 10,000 young people, helping Hilton towards its goal to impact 1 million youth by 2019.

In addition to collaborating with organizations such as the CFPA to develop and equip youth, Hilton has also partnered with the International Youth Foundation to present the Global Youth Wellbeing Index, the second edition of which was recently previewed at the United Nations Youth Assembly. The Index indicates that too many young people remain disconnected from vital job skills and economic opportunities, and that investment in youth is urgently needed at this moment in history, when half of the world's population is under 30.

More than 24,000 people are employed across Hilton's portfolio of over 100 hotels and corporate offices in China. Tens of thousands more jobs re being created with its existing pipeline of 275 hotels. To help meet its demand for talent, the company has also built strategic alliances with various Chinese universities and academic institutions across the country.

Hilton Opens Urban Retreat On South Korea Coastline

BUSAN, South Korea and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today opened doors to the new Hilton Busan, marking its debut in South Korea's second largest city. With its prime location on a pristine coastline in the East Busan Tourism Complex, Hilton Busan is set to be a hub for business and leisure travel to this dynamic region. Hilton Hotels & Resorts Uncovers Passport Holders More Likely to Be Content with Their Lives

MCLEAN, Va. - Approximately 41 percent of Americans have a valid U.S. passport1, and it turns out, that's a good thing. Hilton Hotels & Resorts, the flagship brand of Hilton (NYSE: HLT), has uncovered that Americans with passports are more likely to be content with their lives than those who do not have passports. Based on this finding, Hilton Hotels & Resorts is launching the Hilton Passport Project to put more passports in the hands of Americans to help them realize the power of travel.

Uncovering Consumer Insights
A key component of the Hilton Passport Project is better understanding the mindset of Americans when it comes to international travel and putting their passports to use. To do this, Hilton conducted a study2 of 1,000 travelers to explore: could getting a passport be a key to happiness? What motivates people to get a passport? Are most passports being used? What does having a passport say about someone's personality?

The findings from the study revealed three key themes about American travelers today:   

  • Turns out, having a passport is in fact good for you - More than half (53%) of Americans with passports are content with their lives versus just over a third (34%) of those who do not yet have passports.
  • Passports could be used more, and there are now more opportunities to do so - Among respondents who have a passport (but haven't been abroad in the past 12 months), 18 percent have never used their passport.
  • People are motivated to get out and unlock their world - Six in 10 Americans are motivated to travel abroad and 27 percent already have plans in place to use their passport.

In addition to these key themes, the findings allowed Hilton to create a "Passport Personality Index," which categorizes travelers into a series of personalities - Globetrotters, Future Explorers and "Maybe Later" International Travelers - distinguishable by key traits such as their motivation to travel, contentment with life, social media sharing habits and even desire to first see all America has to offer before heading abroad. The compelling findings from the study are outlined in a Hilton Blue Paper: The State of U.S. Passport Use, available online here.

Putting Passports in Hand
To bring the research to life and motivate travelers to pursue that next stamp in their passport, Hilton Hotels & Resorts is partnering with Zach Houghton, founder of Passion Passport. A core mission for Houghton - and the Passion Passport community - is to connect travelers and potential travelers who are seeking new experiences and perspectives. Houghton will team up with Hilton Hotels & Resorts to invite his followers to a live event in New York City this fall, which will guide people through the process of getting a passport, immerse them in cultures and destinations from across the world and give them a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to one of those destinations.

Beyond New York, Hilton will be facilitating the passport application process by setting up Passport Project activations at select hotels and locations later this year. Visitors will be able to take their passport photo and receive all the information and materials they need to apply for one - as well as engage with interactive experiences that will whet their appetite for global travel.

Additionally, highly immersive digital videos, billboard installations and terminal takeovers with creative from the brand's newest campaign, "The World Is Right Here," will continue to roll out at some of the country's busiest airports in cities including Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas.
