Timonium Simulcast Betting Center Reaches Agreement with Local Community Council
Timonium, MD, March 18, 2016 – The Maryland State Fair & Agricultural Society, Inc. and the Greater Timonium Community Council, Inc. reached an agreement this afternoon regarding the simulcast betting facility at the Maryland State Fairgrounds, thus paving the way for the center to open.
Scheduled to be open seven days per week, this new joint venture with the Maryland Jockey Club, MSF, Inc. and the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, offers all state of the art amenities for enthusiasts wanting to enhance their OTB experience.
Located on the second level of the Fairground’s grandstand with easy access from I-83 to the Timonium Road entrance, the OTB, complete with full scale lunch and dinner services, will be open:
“We’re excited to be working closely with the Maryland Jockey Club and the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and look forward to the Timonium OTB being an added amenity to the
Fairgrounds,” said Maryland State Fair General Manager D. Andrew “Andy” Cashman. “Since the property is always active, particularly with horse sales, the Timonium OTB will mean more exposure for the horse and horse racing industries in Maryland.”
Cashman went on to say, “I am pleased that we’ve been able to resolve our differences with the community association. We are here as an integral part of the Timonium community and we look forward to our continued working relationship.”
The Maryland State Fairgrounds historically has provided its 106-acre facility to a multitude of community events such as local and state law enforcement training and promotional ceremonies, fire and rescue training and special events, 4-H and FFA activities, the Baltimore County Fair, as well as serving as a staging area for local and regional utility companies during adverse weather conditions.
The approximately 5,000 square-foot center features High Definition televisions, state-of-the-art audio and surveillance systems, new landscaping and signage, and well-lit free parking. Patrons will be able to wager on any racetrack in the country that can be accessed at other Maryland Jockey Club properties.
