The 32nd Annual Point/Counterpoint Acute Care Surgery Conference will be held June 2-5, 2013 in National Harbor, Maryland. There will be a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art management paradigms, ongoing controversies, and cutting-edge innovations that cover the full spectrum of Acute Care Surgery. The program will continue to have its trademark format- point/counterpoint. A state-of-the-art lecture will be given each day by a world renown expert on that particular topic, this includes the Charles Wolferth, Jr., MD Memorial Lecture
The course remains committed to addressing relevant surgical/medical diseases and injuries in the three major categories of Acute Care Surgery: emergency general surgery, trauma, and critical care. The classic point/counterpoint (pro/con) format allows for optimal critical analyses of the current body of evidence on specific disease entities and injuries.
Day 1 will focus on gastrointestinal dilemma and controversies, along with the surgical management of other problems arising in the acute care setting. The State-of-the-Art Lecturer will be David Hoyt, MD, FACS, Executive Director of the American College of Surgeons.
Day 2 is devoted to interventions, innovations, and biases in trauma management, along with workforce issues. The State-of-the-Art Lecture (Charles Wolferth, Jr., MD Memorial Lecture) will be given by Dr. Wayne Meredith.
Day 3 will focus on the ongoing controversies in critical care management. Dr. Patrick Reilly will be the featured State-of-the-Art Lecturer for this day.
