The Show Me Family Medicine Conference, held each year in June attracts primary care physicians, residents, medical students, non-physician attendees, and exhibitors. Attendees can attend educational sessions and earn up to 13 hours of AAFP approved (AMA Category 1) CME.
In addition, the Annual Business Meeting and Awards and Installation Ceremony are held at this event when new officers are elected and introduced. Medical students and residents compete in a poster contest and attendees can view and judge the submissions with awards presented to the winners. An exhibit area features companies offering pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical products and services for the medical community.
What is Missouri Academy of Family Physicians?
Founded in 1947, the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) is a non-profit professional medical society of more than 2,400 physicians, residents and medical students across the state. Approximately one in four of all office visits are made to family physicians.
That is nearly 214 million office visits each year — nearly 74 million more than the next largest medical specialty. Today, family physicians provide more care for America’s underserved and rural populations than any other medical specialty. Headquartered in Jefferson City, the MAFP is dedicated to optimizing the health of patients, families, and communities of Missouri through patient care, advocacy, education, and research.
The MAFP is a constituent chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) representing 129,000 physicians and medical students nationwide. It is the only medical society devoted solely to primary care. The AAFP is headquartered in Leawood, Kansas.
