An all-around great athlete who paved the road for Canadian-born athletes to follow, Ferguson Jenkins is one of the best pitchers from a generation defined by great pitching. Jenkins posted six consecutive 20-win seasons with the Chicago Cubs from 1967 to 1972, and in 1971 he earned the National League’s Cy Young Award when he completed 30 games won 24. Jenkins was traded to the Texas Rangers in 1974 and won an American League-leading 25 games for them that season and finished second in the Cy Young voting.
He finished his career where it started in Chicago after the 1983 season with 284 wins, 267 complete games and 3,192 strikeouts.
